“Thanks to Progressive Kick for your tremendous help for my campaign!
Briefly, I had to go up on the radio the last week of the campaign because my opponent was on the radio…you helped pay for my radio ad. It was a good ad and I got a lot of positive feedback about it. We managed to win our race with a huge margin – 57.5% to 42.5% in what you know was a Republican tsunami year. My opponent is a local elected official and small business owner; he had name recognition, raised a competitive amount of campaign money and campaigned actively for several months. In addition to negative robo-calls, my opponent and the Republican Party sent out negative mailings and your contributions allowed me to continue to communicate with voters and reinforce our positive campaign message… Having additional contributions from the Progressive Kick promotion helped me reach the finish line.
Why does it matter that I was supported and re-elected? Because I am a voice for the environment, consumers, seniors, children and people with mental illness and disabilities… People need look no farther than my campaign finance reports and my opponent’s campaign finance reports which were filed with the NC Board of Elections. When a challenger receives $5,000 from utility company PACs to support a campaign against a progressive incumbent who was ranked 14th most effective member of the NC House (out of 120) and has a 100% voting record in support of the environment (see Environment NC and Conservation Council of NC), you know that it is important to keep the incumbent in office.”
